Connecting the Schlieren Scientific Community
The Day of Schlieren Research (DoSR) is an annual interdisciplinary event that brings together researchers, PhD students, and industry partners from across the Schlieren Campus and its partner institutions.
Established in 2024, the event provides a unique platform for scientific exchange, networking, and career development in an open and collegial atmosphere. Its programme features scientific presentations by early-career researchers, invited keynote lectures, poster sessions, industry contributions, career workshops, and scientific awards.
A particular focus is placed on supporting PhD students and early-career researchers, offering them opportunities to present their work, exchange ideas across disciplines, establish professional connections, and explore career paths both within and beyond academia.
Supported by sponsors, the Day of Schlieren Research is free of charge, including scientific sessions, lunch, coffee breaks, and a networking apéro.

Preparations are already underway for the 4th Day of Schlieren Research, taking place on Wednesday, 7 July 2027, at the Bio-Technopark Schlieren.

Review of Schlieren Research Day from 1st July 2026
Highlights of the 2026 Edition
The 3rd Day of Schlieren Research took place on 1 July 2026 at the Bio-Technopark Schlieren, welcoming approximately 200 participants and reaching the venue's full capacity.
The programme featured:
- 25 flash presentations and 20 scientific posters.
- Seven invited speakers, including Prof. Frank Rühli, Dean of the UZH Faculty of Medicine.
- Industry presentations connecting academic research with professional applications.
- Career workshops and panel discussions exploring opportunities within and beyond academia.
- Awards recognizing the two best flash talks and the two best posters.
- Networking opportunities throughout the day.
The event continues to strengthen connections within the Schlieren scientific community, bringing together different disciplines and fostering exchange between academia and industry.
